4545: Grenadiers. A look inside the work of Saas-Fee Ski Patrol

4545 is the official destination magazine of Saas-Fee/Saastal. Last year, the Saas Valley Tourist Office and each of the four Saastal villages made a joint decision to replace the Allalin News with a new, more extensive magazine called 4545.

The magazine is published three times a year and is available for three months in summer and autumn and six months in winter.

The name is a nod to the highest point in the valley, the summit of the Dom. At 4545 meters, it is the highest mountain situated entirely within Switzerland, and the third highest mountain in the Alps, after Mont-Blanc and Monte Rosa (Dufourspitze, Nordend, Zumstein and Signalkuppe).

The Dom is a massive and impressive mountain in the central axis of the Mischabel group, located between the Täschhorn and the Lenzspitze.

But it is also the name of a series of videos made by the Mullner brothers from Puzzle Media and my friend, passionate skier, and journalist, Patrick Gasser (PGMC) for Saas-Fee‘s web channels.

In this video, the team takes a look at the work of Saastal Bergbahnen piste patrol and his team.

The Saas Valley is a special place, surrounded by some of the most stunning mountains in the Alps. The high alpine terrain with its glaciers brings a lot of challenges for Bärti, the chief of the Saastal Bergbahnen piste patrol, and his team.
